Frequently Asked Questions

Should we back up our files?

YES! YES! a million times yes! and not just to that brand spanking new hard drive you bought or your new ipad! We suggest backing up to an online server! We archive files for one year from your wedding date, so we always recommend you have a secure off site back up as well. And while we still have weddings from 2009 on file, I would hate to be your only source for your files. I recommend dropbox to all my portrait and wedding clients! its easy, inexpensive and safe!

Are images watermarked?

No, your final images will not be watermarked as you see them in the gallery. You will receive high resolution files once your album image selections are made, and they will not bear any watermark.

How would your describe your style?

Our biggest goal on your wedding day is to create clean, simple images that are as relevant to you today, as they will be 50 years from now. We like to mix a bit of the traditional with creative lighting and editing, so that you get images that are art worthy, but not trend worthy. We dont ever want you to feel when you look at your images with your children, that any of your collection is dated. Clean, beautiful work stands the test of time, and thats always what we strive for with each couple and family. We also like to capture all of your day...we like you to know we are there, but not ever be in your way. Our goal is to remind your of things that you missed on your day, or things that you have forgotten on a day that went by way too fast.

How many weddings and sessions do you shoot?

We only do one wedding per day, and at most two per weekend, but that is very rare! We shoot between 12-15 weddings per year, so a very limited amountl. This is so we can give each of our clients the special attention they deserve, and so we can have a life. I realized years ago, that having a life outside of weddings makes me so much more creative, and honestly makes the job even more enjoyable. We had years where we did upwards of 40...and well, 15 seems like something we enjoy more...and our clients enjoy it to!

For portraits, we generally shoot about 3-4 per month, except in summer and fall, our busy season. Our favorite type of session is family. There is something about the connection between parents and children, and even siblings that is just so awesome. We do a limited amount of newbons sessions, but only lifestlye.

We also offer studio sessions for head shots, and boudoir session either on location, or at the studio.

Do you attend the rehearsal?

You are certainly welcome to add rehearsal coverage to your collection, but it is by ni means necessary. We have photographed over 300 weddings, and have a pretty good idea how they will flow. We will chat before hand to discuss your timeline in regards to your wedding day, and your ceremony.  This will help us with all the details specific to your ceremony. Trust us, the rehearsal coverage is not necessary for amazing wedding day images!

How do you shoot family formals?

This is the truly posed part of the day, and yes, we ask you to make a list. We want your family photos to be fast and painless! So, a good list helps us go fast, and get you and your family on your way to the party! Once we get closer to your wedding day, we will go over all the specifications for your list. Again, I am the main shooter during this time, while my assistant sets everyone up. This keeps your photos consistent and keeps family organized.

What camera and gear do you use?

We use all Nikon professional gear. We use a d4, a d810, and d3s, as well as loads of lenses. My current favorites are the 70-200mm 2.8, 24-120mm 4.0, 85mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4, 105mm 2.8, and 16-24mm 2.8. We also use a wide variety of Nikon flashes, and Quantum flashes for reception and night work.

How do your collections and pricing work?

We like to give a starting price on our investment page, but we know your day is not like anyone elses. We work with you to create a package and timeline that will work for you and your day. Our main collection begins with eight hours of coverage, but we do offer smaller collections, and special pricing for off season, and non weekend weddings. Please inquire for a full pricing structure, and we can set up a time to chat about your details.
